Viktorija Mickute is a three time Emmy-nominated producer, director and writer based in NYC. Formerly, Viktorija was as a senior producer at AJ Contrast, Al Jazeeras media innovation studio, where she focused on using immersive and interactive storytelling techniques to cover issues about and with the communities most impacted by injustice and inequality. Her immersive project "Still Here," made in collaboration with formerly incarcerated women in NYC, premiered at Sundance in 2020. Having grown up in Lithuania, Viktorija started her career right after her undergraduate political science studies becoming the youngest foreign news editor at the Lithuanian National Television. She later served as their foreign correspondent, and introduced a pioneering daily live TV segment on social media trends, which she hosted. Viktorija was awarded with the prestigious Fulbright scholarship and earned a masters degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri. She graduated with a short documentary film "Invisible Her" about the wives of veterans with PTSD in America. Viktorijas international career took her to Al Jazeera in Qatar where she joined its immersive storytelling studio AJ Contrast in 2017. Viktorija filmed in and worked with journalists and filmmakers in numerous international locations, such as Bangladesh, South Sudan, Malaysia and Morocco. Viktorijas documentary films and immersive experiences have been recognized with 37 international awards, including Gracie, NABJ, and multiple Online Journalism awards, and were screened in dozens of film festivals including Hot Springs and Sheffield Doc Fest. In 2022, Viktorija was selected to participate at the Online News Association's Women's Leadership Accelerator program, and was nominated as a Global Lithuanian Leader. Viktorija is currently directing her first feature documentary film exploring the impact of TV narratives on women, and developing a short fiction film on a water crisis.
