Eligibility: Professionals

Eligible Video Consortium members are actively working in visual journalism, documentary film, or social/emerging media-driven nonfiction storytelling. From cinematographers to directors to sound mixers and beyond, we welcome nonfiction storytellers with an array of technical and creative skills.

If commercial work is your primary focus, that’s ok—as long as you have nonfiction experience and credits. Most importantly, eligible members have a passion for impactful storytelling, and for making the media industry a more collaborative and welcoming place for all. Eligibility: Newsroom

The Newsroom Collective supports local newsrooms across the U.S. interested in enhancing their journalistic impact and audience engagement through video. While video production experience is one of our membership requirements, we understand those interested in the Newsroom Collective may not have a robust portfolio. If this is your case, be sure to mark your interest in the Newsroom Collective on our member application and tell us, in a few words, why you're interested in incorporating video to your journalism career.

Eligibility: Students

Eligible student members are studying or recent graduates of documentary, journalism, and/or nonfiction communications programs. You must have at least one sample of nonfiction video work.

Students and recent graduates are eligible for 50% off the application fee and VC Gold membership. Please contact us to receive a discount code.
