About

Shalini is a quadruple threat in news video having worked in TV, cable, digital, and streaming as a video producer, developer, programmer, and strategist. She was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Content Development for NBC News and oversees the video desk, social newsgathering, short-form video, the daily podcast Here’s the Scoop, digital docs, digital post-production, and now the subscription tier of the NBC News app. On the TV side, she has produced video content for networks such as ABC News, NBC News, and CNBC. In digital, her first foray was working for the revolutionary and first true trans media news app designed for the iPad called The Daily, launched by News Corporation in conjunction with Apple – where she spearheaded original series and special projects for the video team. She then went on to build and lead an internal video team at Fast Company where she developed, programmed, and oversaw the video production for all its editorial video series and franchises. In streaming, she was the Executive Producer and showrunner for a Peacock Original show called The Overview, a millennial news series. She also oversaw production of digital docs, including Blood on Black Wall Street, Southlake, and Dear Noah, which was produced in association with Focus Features, all of which had success with NBC News Group audiences, as well as being critically recognized including winning the Edward R. Murrow Award for video excellence in 2023. Shalini has been a video leader not only at NBC News, but also at Fast Company and Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington’s wellness startup. And she has helped cultivate and manage media partnerships in her roles at ABC News, Fast Company, and Thrive Global. Additionally, she has been a Media Consultant for Joanna Coles, current Chief Content and Creative Officer of The Daily Beast. Her secret sauce is being a passionate storyteller who loves both consuming and creating video with powerful narratives that fuel the success of her teams. Shalini holds a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College, Columbia University and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. She is always looking for new platforms, formats, and collaborations to create growth and innovation, leveraging all the parts of her diverse media background.
