Sarah is the Visual Investigations Editor at Reuters.
Prior to joining Reuters, she was one of the founders of the Washington Postâs award-winning Visual Forensics team. In the early days of COVID, she pioneered the style and tone of the Postâs visual-first storytelling, which relies on video and photo analysis, open-source investigative methods, and traditional reporting.
Sarah honed her visual detective skills in covering some of the biggest news events of recent years. She contributed to a package of stories that reported on Israeli tactics in Gaza and their human toll. The series was recognized as a 2025 Pulitzer Finalist for international reporting and awarded an Online Journalism Award in Excellence in Visual Digital Storytelling. She co-edited the Emmy-nominated Post-Frontline collaboration âFailure at the Fence,â which documented how Hamas was able to carry out its October 2023 attack on Israel. She also was part of the Post team that synced thousands of videos and used 3D reconstruction to show â days after the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol â how close rioters came to lawmakers. The Postâs Jan. 6 coverage won a Pulitzer Prize for public service.
Sarah got her start as a video producer and documentary filmmaker, then cut her teeth on the Postâs Fact Checker desk. When not piecing together riveting stories from thousands of visual clues, Sarah is either re-reading âLord of the Ringsâ or dancing (as best as she can) with her volunteer ballet folklĂłrico company.
