Sara Joe Wolansky is a Brooklyn-based documentary filmmaker and Emmy-nominated producer. She specializes in stranger-than-fiction stories, crafted with empathy. Her award-winning documentary shorts have racked up millions of views and earned plaudits from even the harshest critics in the world, YouTube commenters. Previously, Sara Joe was a Senior Video Producer for The New Yorker. She helped to build The New Yorker's Oscar-nominated documentary brand from the ground up while directing and producing her own award-winning & widely viewed short films. In 2021, Sara Joe produced & edited The New Yorker's groundbreaking video of the January 6th Capitol insurrection, which was covered extensively on broadcast networks and viewed by millions. Excerpts were played during Trump's second impeachment trial. Her films have won recognition from Oscar-qualifying festivals worldwide, Vimeo Staff Pick, the Newswomen's Guild of New York, the Webby Awards, the Society of Publication Designers, the Telly Awards, and more. She also has worked as a producer for Bloomberg and VICE. She holds a M.F.A. in Film & TV Production from the University of Southern California.
