Matthews work is committed to creative expression, collaboration and developing a personal understanding of the individuals and communities he works with.
His films have been awarded and shortlisted at festivals including Visions du Réel, Clermont-Ferrand, Rotterdam, Docs MX and Hamburg Short Film Festival and featured on Shots, Dazed, Nowness, Sky News and Vice Magazine.
His forthcoming feature documentary Science Fiction, co-directed and written alongside Francisco Forbes and Ferran Romeu was grantee of the Sundance Sandbox Production Fund.
Matthew recently collaborated with the European League of Institutes of the Arts and students of Lviv Academy, Ukraine, on the project Creating in Conflict. The film, which examines the art of resilience, was screened at Tate Modern, London.
