About

Whether it be the lasting residue of an antiquated law or the current of a burgeoning social movement, Julia strives to document the individuals at the center of every story, those who are often missing from the headlines. She currently works as a Senior Producer at AJ+ for their field documentary team, where she produces and edits 10-15 minute documentaries. She has reported on a wide variety of topics, such as the collapse of rural EMS services in the Mississippi Delta, the effects of tourism and housing policies in Hawai'i, the politicization of evangelical Christianity in Brazil, and Indigenous resistance movements in the Amazon rainforest. She manages all aspects of video production — from pitching, field production, and camera operation to scriptwriting and post-production. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese fluently and has extensive field experience all across the U.S. and Latin America.
