Jika González is an award-winning documentary filmmaker from Mexico City. She is based in New York where she works as a freelance cinematographer and producer. She holds a M.S. from the Columbia Journalism School where she is currently a visiting professor.
Her work has taken her across the US and around the world where she has focused on telling stories about identity, the human consequences of immigration policy, and climate change. She prefers to work with a light footprint, shoots most of her work handheld, and seeks to capture raw and intimate moments with authenticity.
The stories she's worked on have been acknowledged with five News and Documentary Emmys, a Peabody, and an Overseas Press Club award.
