Dan La Maestra is a Nashville-based editor, composer, and audio storyteller whose career spans professional music performance, education, and filmmaking. After serving for two decades as a pianist with the United States Navy Band Commodores, he transitioned into film production, where he now works across editing, sound design, scoring, and post-production through his company, El Maestro Films.
Dan recently completed the Nashville Film Institute program and continues to collaborate on independent films as an editor, composer, and creative producer. His work is driven by a belief that sound is one of the most powerful tools in cinematic storytelling. Whether composing original music, shaping dialogue, or building immersive soundscapes, he focuses on helping filmmakers create emotionally resonant experiences for audiences.
He is also an educator and mentor who enjoys supporting emerging filmmakers and fostering creative collaboration within the independent film community.
